@anthropy@mastodon.derg.nz I'm a new Linux user and bouncing between LinuxMint on one machine and Ubuntu on another. I kinda prefer/have less issues on ubuntu, what's the reason people say not to use it?

@small_cypress@indieweb.social so like, in the end everyone has their own preferences really, I can't tell you what works best for you because it's a personal thing. But, Ubuntu is kind of a.. well, obnoxious hipster I guess? It wants to do everything slightly differently, has gone through phases of writing its own desktop environment (which was basically gnome3 and so they deprecated it eventually), they even made their own display server, Mir, which turned out to be a copy of Wayland they didn't disclose.
