@ChaplinTokyo@social.vivaldi.net Allen screws have trouble with high torques that you encounter in wood porjects too. Allen is a better fastener for precision machines than it is for wood.If you are going to a co-op that has electric drills for driving screws, these are nice too. Making a pilot hole for the screw will prevent the wood from splitting when the screw is driven in. More important with hard woods than with pine, but it will make the project look cleaner and more professional no matter the wood type.

  • @felis_catus_domesticus@toot.community Yes, I used the drill press to do pilot holes the last time I was there. Didn’t bother with countersinking though, as my wood was soft pine. I remember now how just working at a slow pace, trying not to botch the job felt super tranquil. Very zen, as a matter of fact! 😊
