Gahhh look who's back! I'm so in love, OMG. 🫠🥰 I’ve been away dogsitting for a week and wondered if that would be the end of it, but NOPE. 🖤✨ This friend flew from the tallest redwood to the East, circled me, and then, when I held up a handful of walnuts, landed in the redwood right by the deck and peeked around to watch me lay out nine nuts. They did the water-dunking thing again, too: dropped a couple of the nuts in the birdbath before eating them. I just tried it and can’t tell what the difference might be. Maybe they just like them wet. The parents chatted with me from their Western hangout somewhere in the middle distance, apparently fine with us becoming so chummy. This could be a friend for life. Time for a name soon, I think, maybe to do with the dunking. Dunker? Fisher? I wonder if there's a way to tell if they're male or female, or if I'll suss it out in communication or just stick with they/them. Anybody know if there’s a way to determine a raven’s sex at a glance? #ravens #ornithology
