It was rideable at a "social pace". Fast and hard would have been dangerous. And if there had been traffic / traffic lights etc then overheating would have been likely . But the area I was in was deserted and fairly flat so wind cooling on a gentle ride made it bearable for short rides to the boulangerie. Seriously tiring though and heart BPM immediately into the top zone

I like your lessons about social pace. I gave myself proper heat stroke last year and the gastric consequences were deeply unpleasant. Now I'm really wary.
