The upstairs smoke detectors just loudly announced that they were 21 years old. Happy birthday!

We just discovered it wasn’t the 21 year-old smoke detectors failing, although after 21 years they need a replacement so it’s just as well we replaced them. Rather, it was the 16 month old smoke detectors in the basement… which include AA batteries. Fuck. So there’s some yearly maintenance we’re going to have to remember to do. The new smoke detectors we installed tonight just recharge off of the wiring. Much better.
