there's one simple trick to drastically reduce your driving: just don't own a car! it really is that simple. when you don't have a car at hand all the time, you'll find out that you don't actually need one. and before you reply: i live in a rural village, pop 9k, and regularly ride a train 200 km to my work. your counterargument is invalid. so instead of replying to me just stop whining and simply put your car on sale.

@Stoori@polyglot.city this is just as valid in a city. We live centrally in an apartment building, own a parking spot, and could afford to own a car we put there. We don't do it, partly because we know it'd significantly lower the threshold for going by car to places. The upfront cost of renting one is helping us make better choices.

And if you think selling car is too big leap, just do not use it. Instead, just make small thinking each time you are about to jump to car, can I do it differently and do it. In Finland, you can take your car out of road use in net and you do not pay tax or insurance (some companies might have minimum number of days) for those days. It costs 7 € for each removal – just make a big sign "do not drive" as police picks you automatically and 💸 @Stoori@polyglot.city
