Way back during the 2020 Democratic primary, I said that if a Democrat did win the election, they would have to prioritize prosecuting Trump and his allies and dismantling the shadow power structures driving the fascist movement. I also said Biden was worthless because he would never do that; he would be a presidential seat warmer. We would have four years of relative quiet and then back to Trump. Or worse. And I was right. And it's still true.

I thought Harris had a lot of potential at first. She called the old man out on his racism! On live nationwide TV! Shock! But then she did what she always does: she caves to pressure, retreats from a message that works, and starts pandering to the rich and powerful. I crossed Harris off the list after that and her abysmal performance during the 2024 campaign reinforced everything I thought about her. She's gutless, amoral, and drifts in the wind, doing whatever her rich friends tell her to.

@gwynnion@mastodon.social IMO you're really effectively distilling down one of the biggest electoral arguments, which is basically the Democratic right arguing that their way is the only way to win and Trumpism can't be beaten if Dems can't win, and the center-left arguing that Dems winning isn't sufficient by itself. Ultimately, the Dem-right got their way, Biden won their necessary victory, and it wasn't sufficient.
