I wonder how many of you remember the windows Vista shitshow, where the minimum specs weren't exactly truthful.

@da_667@infosec.exchange I remember this. They caved to pressure to put it on 32 bit architechture, and it ran horribly and tanked the vista brand. The great irony is it ran just fine on 64 bit architecture, but people weren't ready to pony up for new hardware, and it took until w7 for the prices of hardware to come down, and apps started to normalize on 64 bit. Good times.

it's like that, but microsoft has driven up the price of RAM globally by colluding with chip manufacturers and AI companies, and now have to walk that RAM requirement back because they're selling hardware that is worse in more performance specs than they were a year ago.
