people *really* don&#39;t understand the change part of #climatechange or that we&#39;re constantly surprised by *what the changes are* despite having studied this my entire adult life the earth is a massively complex system that we depend upon for life and we are FUCKING WITH IT seems bad

@susankayequinn@wandering.shop it’s true. I have no denialists in my life (thankfully) but most people I know and care about...don’t seem to really -get- that we are well into the process of -tipping- into something not good. I think one other person I’m close to really gets it and that’s because they live in an area where they have had to evacuate for wildfires -multiple times- in the past few years. …it seems that most people I know still get their info mostly from corp/mainstream media

@susankayequinn@wandering.shop That's an awesome point you are having there! That's exactly what many conservatives do - they pretend that the "change" in "climate change" does not exist. Our (Austrian) environment minister said just yesterday that this year has been "exceptional", meaning record heat and forest fires. "Exceptional" - like things will simply go "back to normal" next year. But no, this just the beginning of a much hotter era with even much more and worse heat, fires and weather extremes...
