So, I am writing a post about "why Bending Spoons picking up Airtable is everything bad in tech right now" — which questions do you want to make sure I answer in the piece?

    @anildash@me.dm Cost of utility. Airtable funding from 2015 to 2021. 2015 $3M 2015 $7.6M 2018 $52M 2018 $100M 2020 $185M 2021 $270M 2021 $735M Does it really cost this much to re-create spreadsheet and database services? What problem does airtable really solve?

    @anildash@me.dm Evernote and FiLMiC Pro were flailing. They haven’t (yet) ruined Vimeo. Harvest has seen massive, post-acquisition price spikes. What does this history suggest about Airtable’s future?

  • @anildash@me.dm “What might have been?” (although something like that is surely already on your radar)

  • @anildash@me.dm I'd be interested in your general thoughts on software inertia. I feel like Bending Spoons main play, which seems to be working out for them, is that established platforms - at least that hold content of some sort (notes, videos, dbs) - are too hard to escape for users to bolt, even if you turn the screws.

    @anildash@me.dm what triggered the sale at such a low price? What happens to the employees? It sure seems like a lot are about to get laid off and their equity is worthless
