As a long time fan of the franchise (like ... *long* time) it's amazing to me how poorly it has fared in the USA and how well the Canadian company has done (after being sold off by the US parent c.1972). They are EVERYWHERE here while you are hard-pressed to find one south of the border. Sure, we lost carhop service, but ... you know ... Canada. First thing the Canadian company fixed with their "coffee shop" concept.

@VE2UWY@mastodon.radio Yeah it's a really big difference. They don't even have the full burger family south of the border. This place would be nothing without the Teen Burger, imho.

@zazzoo@mstdn.ca Speaking of old A&Ws. This was built c.1972 … or so … as a new-style “coffee shop” restaurant. And by 1974 it was #Chenoys which is a recognizable name to Montreal folk.
