@anon_opin@mastodon.social i love that we were shown like 1Gbps on 5G when it was emerging but now that it's everywhere i just get 4G speeds.

@novet@infosec.exchange @anon_opin@mastodon.social Yeah. Each base station has a limited amount of bandwidth. The more people are connected to it, the less bandwidth you'll get, regardless of signal strength. Some time ago, visiting a provincial English town at lunchtime, I had four bars but couldn't even download email. I went back to the holiday flat, where the signal was weaker but fewer people were about, and I was able to download maps at over 100Mbit/sec.
