The more people are connected to it, the less bandwidth you'll get, regardless of signal strength. Some time ago, visiting a provincial English town at lunchtime, I had four bars but couldn't even download email. I went back to the holiday flat, where the signal was weaker but fewer people were about, and I was able to download maps at over 100Mbit/sec.

    @CppGuy@infosec.space @anon_opin@mastodon.social yeah i figured this was the problem. just so funny how much it was marketed as going to be lightning fast but it has just reduced to 4G speeds in pretty much any populated area when people are actually using it.
