I was in the first intake that didn’t get range time with the m/31 Suomi submachine gun.
Summer 2000.
Still used m/39 fur hats and for a time I carried a Mosin-based sniper rifle whose receiver was stamped IIRC “1894”.
FDF was really a poor man’s army.

In basic training there was a Finnish-American guy who had been a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. He had so funny facial expressions every time he realised we looked worse than an African guerrilla army.
