    Been reading a compilation of Soviet radio broadcasts from the Winter War and the period immediately preceding it. It’s pretty incredible. Layers upon layers of bullshit and blatant lies, including about what the same radio station claimed few days earlier! Easy to see what inspired Orwell.

    I was in the first intake that didn’t get range time with the m/31 Suomi submachine gun. Summer 2000. Still used m/39 fur hats and for a time I carried a Mosin-based sniper rifle whose receiver was stamped IIRC “1894”. FDF was really a poor man’s army.
