Every meeting is someone’s revolution. The boards/councils are typically elected officials who the people chose to lead these meetings. You’re always welcome to gather your peers and tell the board members that that they should allow more time to complain. Another option is to run for office and set the new standard. This is why local elections are super important, and people should get involved with various levels of government instead of just the federal level stuff.

  • All of that is working so well. 🙄 ETA: the above is essentially the schoolhouse rock understanding of our political system. Unfortunately, it ignores the reality of a system designed to stymie citizens’ ability to affect change. Wait your turn, speak when permitted, get to vote for city council once every four years is a system where playing by the rules does nothing. Especially when over the course of those few years while attempting to oust those fuckers, numerous long-term damaging contracts can be signed and not easily gotten rid of by those who succeed them even if the political will is there. Yes, local politics is important, but being polite and abiding by all the rules is a sure means to get nothing done.
