All of that is working so well. 🙄
ETA: the above is essentially the schoolhouse rock understanding of our political system. Unfortunately, it ignores the reality of a system designed to stymie citizens’ ability to affect change. Wait your turn, speak when permitted, get to vote for city council once every four years is a system where playing by the rules does nothing. Especially when over the course of those few years while attempting to oust those fuckers, numerous long-term damaging contracts can be signed and not easily gotten rid of by those who succeed them even if the political will is there. Yes, local politics is important, but being polite and abiding by all the rules is a sure means to get nothing done.

Who says you have to be polite? You can go up and speak your mind without being polite. You absolutely have the right to. Not all elected officials are on 4 year cycles. You are discounting how soon you can affect change. It starts today. Go start your revolution and tell the people who represent you in our government what you would like them to do. They don’t know your side of the story until you tell them.
