Not only stressed because of, y'know, financial rent reasons, but also because there are wildfires raging in Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington, with three destructive ones hitting Spokane, WA hard - where my fiance's parents and sisters live. Their parents already had to evacuate last night and are currently with one of their sister's & her husband, but their neighborhood is surrounded by Level 3 ("Go Now, this may be your only warning.") evac zones on the west and east, so who knows how long they'll be in their home...
One of their aunt's and uncle's is convinced their home has been seriously damaged or outright destroyed, due to how the fire progressed and where it did so, too... so I'm worried on their behalf as well. This is potentially the worst fire the region has faced ever, let alone in the entire State's history. Several hundred structures are already confirmed to be destroyed by one specific fire alone, who knows how many more are damaged beyond repair, how many are trapped, how many are dead because they couldn't get out in time...
While my partner and I live far away from the wildfires nowadays, both of our families live in Eastern WA. While wildfires aren't threatening my family as far as I know, with how severe conditions have been... it wouldn't take much for a fire to start up and become difficult to contain, when resources are already spread thin across the state to keep things under control as-is.
It's only the start of August. Fire season lasts through a good chunk of September, here. It's probably going to get worse before it gets better at all... and I'm scared for what's likely to come. I'm scared that someone in either of our family's will lose their home. I know there's nothing I can do about this, but I can't help but worry. Anxiety is a bitch.

In part, I'm scared to pressure my family for help again because what if they need that money to get to safety. What if they need that to rebuild, if the worst case scenario happens? I know it's unlikely for my parents or my sister + her wife, but I can't stop the catastrophizing what-if's in my mind right now. What if they need that desperately to at least get to relative safety? I don't want to pressure them to help me when there's the ever-looming threat that they'll lose their homes, too, even if there aren't wildfires actively ravaging their cities.
It's a mostly irrational fear since AFAIK there aren't wildfires threatening their neighborhoods, I know, but I just. Can't bring myself to ask them again right now. Because there's that chance that they'll need that more to make sure they stay alive, and to be housed themselves if disaster strikes...
