By useful, I mean stuff like “summarize the main points from these 300 excruciatingly boring tender requirements, so I know what to look for in a detailed analysis” or “read through my inbox and highlight the 5 most important topics from the last month, along with their corresponding action items”. I’m a product manager, not a coder or engineer. I rarely operate on stricter criteria than “mostly correct”, “good enough” or “probably wrong”.

@slothrop@chaos.social I think there's a world where LLMs are trained on data that was given voluntarily, where a lot of AI money flows to the creators and writers of that data, and the data centers are built only when they would not contribute to a climate crises. We certainly don't live in that world though.
