@huskify@mastodon.world Yes! EVEN if it's "just a cold", no one wants it!!!! Especially not the over-80 grandpa with anemia & a heart condition!! Why am I the only one who cares about Grandpa's health?!? Even Grandpa himself doesn't seem to care if he gets sick or not. ๐Ÿ˜ญ I can't know for sure but I suspect the parent was thinking, "If I test and it's positive, I'd have to take her home & that would disrupt the fun-filled family weekend." Though I don't understand why a sick child in attendance in itself is not considered a disruption, plus the potential disruption if other family members get sick!! ๐Ÿ˜–

@ikuo1000@mas.to ๐Ÿ’ฏ!!! I, too, wonder about the older vulnerable people not really caring about exposure. I seriously think prior covid has interfered with judgment and caring about others. People are less empathetic, apathetic, and cannot critically think through situations. I found this small study really interesting. People lose 18% of dopamine connectivity with long covid affecting the brain. https://tech-paper.com/scientists-finally-have-a-biological-explanation-for-why-long-covid-patients-lose-motivation-and-cant-think-clearly-they-scanned-their-brains-and-found-the-dopamine-system-was-physically-damaged/

@ikuo1000@mas.to @huskify@mastodon.world back in the 1970โ€™s, if I was sick, my parents took me home and had me rest. Weird.
