@ascentale@sfba.social @MarkBrigham@universeodon.com @bikenite@fedigroups.social #BikeNite A7. I don't have any mile goals this year. Just to ride more and ride consistently. My ideal would be to ride at least an hour a day, 6x per week though. Far short on that, but also don't need encouragement. Between heatwaves and getting sick, it's been rough. My last bike ride my heart rate was >20 bpm higher than my last time doing the same right a month ago. I feel like I still haven't gotten over it completely or something.

@ascentale@sfba.social @MarkBrigham@universeodon.com @bikenite@fedigroups.social A7 I had a COVID-induced heart problem last year, so my goal this year has been to get back to my previous (nothing special) fitness level, easily measured by things like whether I can make the short steep hills at Gates 9 and 11. (Plus some hikes, like Deception Peak and Nambe Lake.) I'm happy to say that though the heart issue isn't fully resolved, I can make those climbs again.

@ascentale@sfba.social @MarkBrigham@universeodon.com @bikenite@fedigroups.social #BikeNite A7: My goal for the year was 8000 miles of cycling. I currently sit at 5461 miles, so I am well on target for achieving the goal (assuming no health issues).

@ascentale@sfba.social @MarkBrigham@universeodon.com @bikenite@fedigroups.social #bikeni Oh, I"m remembering BikeJournal which was pre-Strava and all that, jsut an online spreadsheet, and when Howard and I challenged each other.... I have been mildly obsessed w/ getting to 5000 miles on the year. 500 per month would get me there at one pont... HOO BOY I got over 600 in May !!! THen 493 in June -- because also I have a vow NOT to let the numbers rule me. This week I did The MOonlight Ride and the Wednesday Ride and ... yea, didn't ride in the rainyday much today but I got 562 in July. I have to make myself stop doing mental arightmetic with thenumbers :P BUT a fond memory of my 3rd bike club ride ever was when Rickey said "Oh, I've got 169,000 lifetime miles! But that's not a significant number," and .... I said "Well, it's 130 squared times ten!!" and then waited for the look ... but Rickey said "You're right!!! I need to go tell Clyde!!! And I need to write a letter to Rickey :)
