How do you kindly correct people or do you just leave it as is if they say something so not you about your music? Or you don’t care at all? or does it prompt you to think? Does it depend on who that is? Someone you share a connection with vs acquaintances?
Example 1: Me bumping into a DJ in an event, we say hi and she says some nice things but starts the conversation by saying “oh yeah you are that breakcore producer!”
Me: just smiles and makes a silly joke. (my internal dialogue - I AM NOT A BREAKCORE PRODUCER)
Example 2: Someone telling me about a folk instrument from Turkiye (happens especially in mainland europe), with good intentions and enthusiasm, and kebap etc, when I don’t share a connection with that part of turkey in my mind, growing, and culture.
So many answers in my head but I no longer explain.

@elifyalvac@tldr.nettime.org I used to get defensive but learned as I get older to just say fuck it and let people be and I'm just glad they enjoy it. Real heads know anyway.
