When I was the interviewer recently, fully 90% of the people I interviewed had no idea how anything worked beyond a very shallow surface level, and this was for a senior-level position. I can only imagine what it’s like for juniors and entry-level.
(And so many of those candidates were *obviously* typing my questions into ChatGPT and reading its response back to me like I couldn’t see them on camera.)
I don’t know where we’re going to get the next generation of practitioners.

@rk@mastodon.well.com @hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange It's the perfect storm, isn't it? Garbage candidates applying for jobs that they're not qualified for with resumes that aren't real, wasting companies' time and putting them off hiring, while the actual folks that know the job are getting shoved to the bottom of the stack because our resumes can't pass the AI filter before a human ever looks at it. Gotta love a system that both parties hate.
