    There are few better cures for a depressive episode than a TTRPG session. New players, good friends, dinner, and dice rolls. Sounds like a great Friday to me!

    I try not to be annoying with my job posting boosts, but, IMO, the job market isn&#39;t a zero sum game. Even if I&#39;m in direct competition for a position with someone, they deserve just as much of a chance of getting the job as I do. Until we as a society decide that our value as humans isn&#39;t determined by whether or not we can work and implement UBI/GMI, employment will unfortunately continue to effectively be necessary.

    I appreciate and respect companies that give back to open source projects, whether financially or through direct code contributions. Having an expectation that every potential engineering employee already does this in their spare time is a major red flag. Doubly so for roles that aren&#39;t software engineering-focused.

    It&#39;s weird seeing the places that are hiring for hybrid roles thinking it drives down the salary because they only have to compete in the local market. Most studies I&#39;ve seen indicate that in-office time comes with a premium price tag, driving salaries up. Very interesting dynamic.

The toxicity of my current workplace made it more tenable to risk unemployment than to continue in such an environment. That said, I am actively looking for a new role. During my downtime, I am going to start playing around with this #kubernetes thing that I think might catch on. I&amp;#39;ll also be working towards catching myself...
