I hope you are having a better day than Gianni Infantino, because UEFA just pulled its 55 nations' football teams from all future FIFA competitions including the future World Cups. Corruption has consequences. https://www.uefa.com/news-media/news/02a7-213a92896eb0-54dfbf454e3b-1000--statement-on-behalf-of-uefa-and-its-55-national-associations/

  • @randahl@mastodon.social Are the UEFA members finally stepping out of FIFA? It's about time. I hope they start their own competing international football federation, this time with more accountability and less corruption. Infantino being the end of FIFA sounds entirely appropriate. I really hope UEFA follows through.

@randahl@mastodon.social prediction: FIFA will back down for one month or two, UEFA accepts it and withdraws their boycott but then FIFA will do the same in a different form.

@randahl@mastodon.social Wow. Strong statement. Let's face it: Infantino has tarnished FIFA as thoroughly as Trump has tarnished the USA.
