As fatigue (up to extreme Chronic Fatigue Syndrom) is a common long COVID symptom (incl. measurable decline of fitness) I don't think that's "just" a mental issue due to lack of dopamine - that virus often damages many parts of the body.
The combination of decreased physical fitness and memory/concentration/executive issues probably is pretty depressing and prevents ADHD-style stimulation that could otherwise make up for the lack of dopamine

@Doomed_Daniel@mastodon.gamedev.place @ZenHeathen@beige.party @currentbias@zeroes.ca yeah, not suggesting it's "all in anyone's head" so much as possibly (or very possibly not) the combined effects of a bunch of different things hitting at once to add some extra whammy to the pile.
