@mrc@mastodon.berlin I would put them in pots and wait till you know if they are male or female. Female trees produce the fruits that stink horribly 😬 And not to be even more of a party pooper, but it's also important to keep in mind that ginko has basically zero environmental value (compared to other trees), the tree is toxic to many/most insects... (That's partly why decades ago people thought it's great for cities, but we should learn from their mistakes.)

    @centaureacyanus@mastodon.social I actually prefer planting native species. Will probably stick to keeping it in a pot or creating a bonsai (never tried!). Less concerned about the fruit as I am unlikely to be alive by the time it starts producing them :)
