Anyone know of a good explanation of the difference between an #AutisticMeltdown and a panic attack? I think I can explain it myself, but a short explainer I could share with people would be handy.
I wish there were more awareness of what autistic meltdowns are, especially how they aren't the same as tantrums, panic attacks, and maybe a few other things they get mistaken for. I think a lot of unnecessary damage gets inflicted on us because people don't understand what meltdowns are or how to deal with them.

@joshsusser@autistics.life i had a bunch of stuff that lead up to the meltdown and when it finally happened, i just lost complete control of my faculties because of one little thing my coworker did. i started yelling and throwing things, hitting the countertop, etc. from an outsider perspective, it probably looked like i was having a temper tantrum. when i had the panic attack, i could actually pinpoint what was making me panic. i had no control over it but i knew why i was having it.
