In 2017 #Bitcoin was projected to consume all the world's energy by 2020. Somehow, magically, we got to 2020 and still had energy. So... what happened? Bitcoin is literally a store of wasted electricity. The cost basis changes. Don't get me wrong. #Crypto consumes large amounts of energy and a significant portion of data centers goes to it. Crypto currently consumes ~150TWh of energy. #AI only now consumes ~150TWh of energy. AI will continue to grow, crypto probably won't. 5/

@AeonCypher@lgbtqia.space > "Gun Availability Increases Gun Deaths" is not an interesting or useful statistic because if you swap out Gun with Swimming Pool or Car or anything else, you get the same result. Here is where I start to struggle to continue reading, as this is a category error. A car has multiple, non-violent (NV) uses. A swimming pool has staggeringly largely a NV use. A gun is designed for violence and there is no way to use it NV or not implying violence. See also https://theonion.com/no-way-to-prevent-this-says-only-nation-where-this-r-1819576527/
