@stefano@mastodon.bsd.cafe It seems there is no hope with some people, too many people seem to be shouting about AI being the solution to all problems and a major job killer, reading your post I get the opposite impression. I hardly use AI, but then I don't need to look much up, if I do I find what i want with a search engine, BUT am usually looking for specific sources of information. For example there was an interesting physics article in one of the papers, so in an effort to try and find more info I undertook a duckduckgo search and found info on phys.org and arxiv.org both to me useful and importantly more reliable sources, many of the items that came up were for other newspaper articles. I sometimes feel I am some sort of exception to what others are doing.

@zleap@techhub.social people think they can replace competence and experience with AI, without knowing what they're doing. This way, they're causing a lot of damage, because the AI will always have an apparently perfect solution. Apparently is the key, here.

@zleap@techhub.social @stefano@mastodon.bsd.cafe there was a (unfortunately short) time when "web literacy" was a thing, and people were encouraged to assess the accuracy of their sources (like, by checking other things on the same site, or assessing the motivations of the site as a whole such as who is supporting it). I watched some Crash Course videos on this a year or two ago (apparently a reliable source). That seems to have gone straight out the window. It's almost as if people are choosing to be less informed.
