Anybody taken metronidazole? I have an infected tooth and dentist is giving me 3 days on it...I can't get the root canal done right away and amoxicillin hasn't entirely cleared up the infection. So I've been reading people's comments on drugs dot com about this antibiotic and now I'm scared to take it.

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange Whatever else you do, DO NOT drink alcohol, or use anything like cough syrup or mouthwash that contains alcohol. It will make you very ill. Otherwise, it didn't affect me badly when I had to take it eons ago. Good luck with it!

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange I took it earlier this year without anything bad happening. Part of an antibiotic cocktail for a severe infection. Good luck & hope you feel better.

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange IMHO antibiotics just prolong the inevitable. I had major tooth issues... ...while it's not a cure, holding Vodka (an swallowing 😁) in my mouth seemed to help. Sometimes extraction is the healthier option (if it's not the front tooth) GL Mate

2/ I started taking the metronizadole this morning. 5 hrs later I suddenly had a bit of a flushing sensation and a strange feeling in my throat. I don't know how to describe it. I'd rather not have it. It's almost a burning sensation? No nausea or bad taste which seem to be the most common side effects.

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange I’ve never taken it, but I’ve known people who have. Everyone who took it did so for Giardia. My sense of it all was along the lines of, “Giardia was really bad. And then I had to take Flagyl!” I’ve always thought Flagyl was just for parasite infections, but I don’t know anything.
