It seems like if the initial token costs are to believed, the cost is approaching $1m USD, but it's likely, as the article says, that there were a lot of non-reported costs being spent from Anthropic helping the project along and continuous CI/CD.

@cwebber@social.coop "the rewrite was done and then merged to main" — I find this part so egregious and so typical. With the rewrite practically all issues, merge requests, etc. are void. There was no reason for the rewrite to be destructive. But in good AI fashion, it of course was. That's all they know.
