@vor@lgbtqia.space For military issue, a knife should be cheap enough to be commonly-issued as standard equipment to everyone, generic enough and strong enough to be adaptable to a wide variety of camp or combat tasks, and not a precious possession, since in the heat of combat, weapons often need to be, or simply are, discarded, or lost.
The Cold Steel SRK and Recon Tanto fit that description well, the only difference being blade shape.

@gcvsa@mstdn.plus I'm not knife-shopping. Among the reasons are my old and reliable Leatherman Wave. I'm legally blind due to my very narrow visual field, and I live in an urban area. I know jack all about military knives. If I were shopping for tactical anything, I'd reach out to the veterans I know for guidance before I started looking. I'm old enough that when search was working for people who are good at search, I was not in that circle of the diagram. Asking folks who know has always worked waaay better for me. It's one reason I'm still here. Mastodon has big FidoNet energy.
