My block, Falkner 800-900, had 3 cars; the 4th was wen we bought the second one. Everyone just walked, used the bus and some rode bikes.

Yes, going to a bigger supermarket was cheaper, but not sure if the expense of the car really gave us a plus. When we wanted to buy something not available locally, we could take the car downtown and park far from the core and walk 350m.

Yes, the car was convenient for a 4-5-7 sized family, visiting family and friends, or taking trips to the mountains (no trains; mostly there still aren't any). I learned to ride bikes "late" (8yo) and didn't dismount till I came to Europe (granted, to a mountainous area) and bought my first car (but I bought a bike first) and started going everywhere. Biggest trip was 8Mm in two weeks. 4/
