OK, for fans of the movie #TENET (and I realize I may be sort of alone on this one), I had a realization on my last watch.
At the end (SPOILERS!), our protagonist, as he is learning details about his future, he's becoming more and more agitated, almost in tears, and other than sheer overwhelm, I couldn't quite reconcile that.
But the thing is, he'd taken so much else in stride, I didn't think it was sheer overwhelm.

He learns that he recruited Neil in the future. He learns that they have a great friendship and "get up to some stuff", and more than anything else in the movie this train of thought seems to upset him. And he asks whose temporal pincers maneuver it is, and learns--though he clearly knows but doesn't want to acknowledge--that it's his. He ordered it. And with this knowledge, he's really on the edge. Why wouldn't he have figured this out sooner? Why does it upset him? 2/?
