the latest fediverse drama is that the developer of Lemmy frontend Tesseract has been found to be secretly blacklisting instances and users for "advocating for violence on both sides", mostly people praising Luigi or memeing about burning cop cars etc. the drama being many Lemmy users are inconsolable over finding out they never made into the list

we didn't make it into the censorship list either, but it's not a big deal for us because we don't participate in any Lemmy spaces. (too much is about tech and the part that's political is dominated by Marxists.)
some parts of the Tesseract crusade are easier to understand, like blocking any usernames containing a hammer-and-sickle, or starting with "anarchist" or including "anarchist". some give you pause, like blocking "Allah" or any username starting with "Anonymous" or "yanks", or anything to do with discussing Epstein or ICE. communities blocked include not just stuff like c/palestine or c/luigimangione in various instances, but also anything related to documenting mod abuses, ICE crimes etc. not only all anarchist and communist communities are blocked but any that has "biollionaire" in the name, the Green Party, or "zionist", for example.
most memetically, Tesseract quietly shadowbans and will report as "incompatible" any community that matches "Moe$", "^Yuri" and "^WholesomeYuri", as well as any posts including the string "๐ฅบ?๐๐". you know, incitement to political violence :pinkgirl_ayy:

@elilla@transmom.love Of all things to blacklist, the third stooge seems like the weirdest thing, Moe was a good guy D: /s Kinda wondering if I made the list now though. I don't do most of that, but it's not like I haven't picked some weird hills on Lemmy
