Our second Mystery Year coincided with the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. It was boycotted by half of the participants for political reasons. The opening ceremony on thursday pushed this edition to wednesday. Earlier in the day, there had been a big celebrity wedding. Mike Smith mingled with crowds in The Mall, Martyn Lewis commentated, Sarah Kennedy checked out the Champagne, and Alistair Stewart powered a hot air balloon by himself. Sir Simon Bates was doing the Radio 1 Roadshow in North West England. Hosts for another live #TOTP are Lord Gary Davies and the Hand-some Peter Powell.

"What's the colour of money" - Hollywood Beyond He's got a sharp suit, a clear image (dreadlocks, shades), and a distinctive song. Breaks down a little during the instrumental break. Mark Rogers and his backing band tap into a very 1986 sound: fast percussive beats, a stacatto vocal line with brisk syllables, with the melody mostly reserved for the chorus. Looked a bit like Prince, sounded like all those American hits that don't do much over here... ...and that was Hollywood Beyond's problem. The album, "If", was diverse soul-funk-rock with some jazz thrown in, but the band was not right for 1986. They were either three years too late, or eight years too early. Mark went on to work in charity, and money remains purple. #TOTP #HollywoodBeyond
