I don't think people understand the scale at which slop is in everything now. It isn't "just a few projects." It's literally tons of projects. Linux kernel. hidapi. libusb. Windows. MANY Rust libraries. Alpine Linux. Fedora. Ubuntu. Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head, there are countless more. It's basically impossible to avoid slop now. Like I do not mean difficult, I mean if you work in this space, you are dealing with something coded by AI, period. And I ask... what the fuck am I supposed to do about all this. Because most programmers don't give a shit at best as long as the code is okay enough.

@Elizafox@social.treehouse.systems Given the ubiquity of LLM code, my attitude is changing, softening a little. People who know how to code are using these tools, reviewing and testing the results, maybe adding some tweaks, and them committing it, and we all benefit from it - more features, delivered faster. Now, having said that…. LLMs are a horror show for a dozen different reasons — but one reason they are destined to fail is the economics…. It costs 20x more to run these systems than what they’re charging, and nobody will even pay 2x or 4x what they’re paying now for the same output. New iterations / versions of these LLM’s are prohibitively expensive to create. I expect the entire thing to implode shortly, along with an economic collapse that makes the housing bubble of 2008 look like a clown show.
