@ajn142@infosec.exchange I work for Jamf. It doesn’t require someone be logged in. So long as the computer has a network connection and can communicate with its management server and Apple, it’ll receive updates, software installs, etc.
Keep in mind some app installers are poorly built and may require either having a user logged in or repackaging. That’s not a Jamf limitation. Many developers simply don’t understand the macOS platform and how it works for distribution.

@talkingmoose@mastodon.social appreciated. In this case, I’m starting with just device check-in. I can see these devices simultaneously checking in with our SIEM and pulling DHCP leases on the enterprise network, and not checking in to Jamf until after a user logs in.
