I think the Ozempic/Wegovy craze is a complex issue that can't be boiled down to "Everyone has the right to lose weight however they want" OR "Nobody should ever take weight loss medication."

@BathysphereHat@mastodon.online I look at it the same way I look at treatment for major depression: the best outcomes are achieved with both therapy and antidepressants. It's the patient's choice whether they use one or both. Sure, doctors greatly prefer that people do both, but for a variety of reasons people often don't go to therapy. Doctors don't punish them by withholding medication. Yes, lifestyle changes are important like therapy is. That can be complicated too. My neighbor knows how to exercise...
