For conservatives, hypocrisy is a flex. It shows that they don't feel bound by the rules they expect you to follow. They don't see it as inconsistent because they think they're better than you.

    @SallyStrange@eldritch.cafe I always see it as the consequence of starting from the conclusion you already believe and working backwards. Facts (or “facts”) are hastily grabbed as needed—whatever’s closest—to support that endpoint. They give facts as much consideration as you would a doorstop. “Is it heavy enough to hold the door open? Yes? Then that’s all I care about.”
