USA doesn't ban guns because guns don't kill people. People kill people. They won't ban AI because AI doesn't do bad things, people do bad things. Oh... it did a bad thing on its own. Uh.... It's "unprecedented" Um... Hm... We still can't ban it because uh....

@chu@climatejustice.social They won't impeach the president because presidents don't do war crimes, their subjects do. Legally, because the president tells them to. So nobody is to blame.

@chu@climatejustice.social It didn't do a bad thing "on its own." That's like me parking my car on a hill and not setting the parking brake, and when the car rolls down the hill and kills someone, we say "The car rolled down the hill on its own." Yeah, because the human who was responsible let it happen. This is not an AI problem, this is a human recklessness problem, and every story about it should be framed that way.
