Not only was I gaslit with "There's nothing wrong with you," or "Just lose some weight," I even had a Rheumatologist who was reluctant to touch me because I was gay, and tried to tell me that glucosamine wasn't made from shellfish.

@kimlockhartga@beige.party @wendynather@infosec.exchange our health insurance industry's influence definitely doesn't help but US med schools also don't do a great job teaching empathy, active listening, or bedside manner. if you didn't already enter med school with those, you likely won't get it taught to you. add in the bias of most medical research being on white men until pretty recently and there we all are. even pain management isn't really handled well.
