@BenLeverAU@aus.social @aj@gts.sadauskas.id.au @jamesh@aus.social I'm trying to get more "passive activity" because I hate exercising, so planning trips I'd take with a car, with public transport instead. I knew things were bad, but it's so frustrating to see the gaps.

@decryption@aus.social @BenLeverAU@aus.social @jamesh@aus.social Sydney was generally better at putting shopping centres next to train stations than Melbourne. Aside from the Northern Beaches and the Eastern Suburbs, and the car dependent suburbs on the TWay from Liverpool to Parra you can *generally* get to most shopping centres by train. As in, you can either walk directly from the train station (QVB, Westfield Sydney, Westfield Parra, Castle Towers) or they're no more than maybe five to 10 minutes walk. Melbourne has a couple of good ones (Melbourne Central, Box Hill Central) or nearly good ones (Eastland, Epping, Watergardens, The Glen). But then many more big monstrosities like Chadstone and Northland and Forest Hill Chase and Werribee Plaza and Knox City that totally depend on cars.
