  i've got a yubikey that doesn't appear in ykman on linux or macos, doesn't appear in lsusb on linux but does show up in dmesg after inserting it (but as an SLE78 USB Solid Flash kit) - i think it's fucked, right? i have backup keys for this reason, but it would be nice to keep using it! these things aren't cheap

  Had a bit of time to kill, found myself at Ballarat library so tested out their public kiosk. At first it was "out of order" but that was because the monitor was turned off! Used my computer skills to fix that (the power button was behind the sticker, the library staff couldn't figure it out) and discovered I could select the boot menu, so technically, if I wanted to, I could boot from an external SSD and do whatever I like. Maybe there's a proxy required for internet access,...

  I've been trying a bunch of web based RSS readers (freshRSS, yarr, commaFeed) and they're not as nice to use a Feedbin! But Feedbin is $100/yr :( I like yarr the most though, nice default theme, the keyboard shortcuts work properly (even though my muscle memory isn't used to them) and very lightweight on the server

  It finally happened - I emailed JustCo to ask about pricing in their coworking space and replied to an email that was from an AI agent as if it was a human, not realising it was an AI agent until a follow up email came back 30 seconds later asking me a question I already answered in the original email. Not gonna bother giving them money if they can't be bothered talking to me.

  It's always amusing when I go looking for a book (usually tech/computer related) at the library and some far flung regional library has it - like this one just hanging out on the shelf in Leongatha! what's nice is that I can tell my local library to order it from there and I can pick it up from Bacchus Marsh instead, all for free. I love the library.

  Anyone with an EV and a home battery have a method for charging the EV from the grid, but not from the battery? e.g: charge at night cheap, but don't drain the battery. I assume in that scenario you'd just turn the battery off with some form of automation - but what about during the day where I might need to charge the EV from the grid, but I want the discharge the battery into the house for stuff in there (dishwasher, washing machine, heater/AC etc). Is that even possible?
