Oh goodie, the Engadget version of the story even “hints” at a Mafia-style “protection” racket at the end. “[Hugging Face, the AI company attacked by the AI] also said that protecting an online platform these days includes using AI for defense. OpenAI pretty much echoed those sentiments and said that it expects AI-driven security breaches to "become more commonplace with the proliferation of increasingly cyber-capable models."” So basically: Nice server you’ve got there, sure would be a shame if anything happened to it… but don’t worry, we can protect you from the threat of us!
