I put my spacebar on my Compaq MX-11800 the wrong way so I took it off but the switch flew off and I haven’t been able to fix it so the spacebar doesn’t continuously press.
So now I’m looking at needing soldering tools and a new switch…but if I gotta buy all that stuff, might as well have all new switches, right?
I’m annoyed.

@netopwibby@social.coop Your paint job looks fantastic! I have a different revision of the same keyboard. I disassembled and cleaned it up once and have some photos buried on backup. If you really need a reference photo or just have a question, feel free to ask. I got lucky and didn't have to disassemble any keyswitches or do any soldering, so I can't speak to that outside of general soldering advice. Best of luck with the switch replacement!

I did a decent paint job but totally forget about the trackball buttons. This has been a series of unfortunate circumstances and frustrations. I also had to buy a new PS/2 to USB adapter because the initial one I bought was flaky. SIGH
