(i am kinda just thinking out loud here)
like if someone wants to experiment with live streaming, or blogging or whatever, should the two options be Youtube/twitch or be a programmer? or to use substack or be a programmer?
i don't know, but considering all other options go bust it seems there is not a good businessmodel for being the service in the middle?

Other options can be a.) get a group of friends together, pool $$$ and have those with the ability to admin b.) use a popular "trusted" instance For streaming it should be the same options. Use mainstream services, self-host, pool friends/community together to self-host, join a public instance, etc.,
