Thinking about vanity sizing and it’s funny because I’m not comforted by something I don’t believe to be true.
I take a 4 in Lacoste shorts/trunks—their way of saying medium—and, being French and all, they’re the ones who’ve stayed closest to original sizing in my experience.
So, if you’re putting me in a smaller ‘size’ than Lacoste I de facto know it’s bullshit. Also, ‘small’ isn’t probably quite the same ego boost for men that it is for women haha.

There was an Esquire article back in 2010 that @billyjoebowers@mastodon.online recalled in which they investigated the actual sizes of jeans at various retailers. I can’t find it online, but this is ABC riffing on it.

@Holberg@mstdn.social You are reminding me of the American guy I worked with in Japan who was about 5'7". He bought a ton of clothes because he was so excited to fit an XL size for the first time in his life. I'm glad at least that it brought him joy.
