Unfortunately, the Canadian person who decided to respond to my comments about reducing energy consumption turned out to, in addition to not being a critical thinker, also be asking disingenuously, and devolved into base insults.
But here's a few thoughts:
1. The "law of holes": If you find yourself in a hole, and you want to get out of it, first stop digging.

For human civilization to survive this century, human civilization is going to have to condense its patterns of settlement into #urbanism. There is simply no rational way to debate this fact. Urban living is by far and away the most efficient way of living. Human civilizations of the past have abandoned settlements and infrastructure that was no longer supportable, and we will be no different. How are we going to pay for this? How did we pay for (looks around) any of what we already have?
